ACTIVISM, the mural

Post-Project Complete! Eighteen months built up to a release to begin beautifying these blank building walls. In a total of 24 hours spent, a sketch turned into a big reality. For the second time, local artist, Mercé Culp creates a large public work from a small idea on paper. Its a community mural that doubles as a post-trip project after a trip to Israel through Partnership2Gether, Western Galilee in 2013. Activism through Diversity is its theme painted on an 18'x25' space on a vacant building at 18th St. and Madison Ave. Toledo, OH. This is one big community hand-shake! A handshake that unites people groups, ideas, efforts and communities. Uptown has created a beautiful community park next to this building providing a safe place to gather for inner-city families and neighbors. These murals were painted by a total of approximately 12 local artists where each artists picks a desired panel space and  Here are pictures of the completed project on August 28, 2014.
